Confidentiality & Data Security Statement for Lawyers

Last Updated: March 2025

Online Divorce Mediation Lawyer is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of all client information submitted through our platform.

As part of our AI-assisted mediation analysis process, certain structured client data (in the form of anonymized or pseudonymized proposals and preferences) may be transmitted to the xAI enterprise API for the limited purpose of generating proposed equitable settlement options.

Key Protections in Place

  1. No Model Training – xAI does not use any inputs, outputs, or uploaded files from the ODL platform to train, fine-tune, or improve its models.
  2. Ephemeral Processing & Deletion – All data sent to the xAI API is processed in memory where possible and automatically deleted within a maximum of 30 days.
  3. Encryption & Data Location – Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). All processing occurs on xAI infrastructure located entirely within the United States.
  4. Limited Human Access – Access by xAI personnel is strictly limited to authorized individuals and only occurs for security incidents or legal requirements.
  5. Compliance & Processor Role – xAI acts solely as a data processor under the direction of ODL (the data controller). xAI maintains SOC 2 Type 2 compliance.

Your Ethical Responsibilities as an Attorney

As the data controller, you retain your independent ethical duty of confidentiality under the California Rules of Professional Conduct (Rule 1.6). We recommend that you:

  • Obtain informed consent from clients before submitting data for AI-assisted analysis.
  • Use the platform only for appropriate, non-high-risk cases.
  • Exercise independent professional judgment over any AI-generated settlement proposals.
